About

Like Greenpeace, we believe that beautiful fashion shouldn’t cost the earth.

Restylist started with a BIG dream to bring the importance of Sustainable Fashion to the world in all the ways the founder felt was important. Firstly, through encouraging people to buy second hand and not over consume, secondly, showing people how second hand clothing when sourced and styled right can be fashionable and trendy, and lastly, offering a platform for young fashion stylists and fashion photographers a way in the industry by showcasing their talents. However, due to the pandemic and other reasons, Restylist was forced to stop in their tracks very quickly and only after being in the market for a very short while. It’s been a few years since we’ve been off the grid and finally after a long break and a big Rethink as to how to move forward with the brand we feel we have found a happy medium to express some of the initial ideas of what Restylist had set out to do in order to keep highlighting the importance of Sustainable fashion.

Here's how...

Firstly, Restylist has decided to continue working with the fact that as a society we still over consume, especially within the fashion world but instead of sourcing individual garments from charity shops, we’ve decided to go a step further and highlight all those existing Sustainable Brands that are already doing amazing and important work out there by showcasing them on our website and Instagram. Most importantly Restylist wants to share their stories as we feel the message behind the brand and how and why they began is possibly the most important part of their ethos.

Secondly, we felt that styling the clothing that we love from the sustainable brands highlighted would be a great way to showcase not only the brand but also offer helpful styling tips which Restylist is best known for. We hope to collaborate with more and more sustainable brands as we grow and open up conversations about sustainability and work together to build a more sustainable world together.

Finally, Restylist hopes to eventually put in place a platform or community where they can continue to support young talent in the fashion industry all of which fits in with educating the young so that we continue to build a sustainable future for generations to come. We are not exactly sure how, yet, but all we can say is watch this space...

"Call it Eco-Fashion if you like, I think it's just common sense"

Our Team

Yamini Patel

Yamini is a graduate in Fashion from the University in Manchester and has spent over 15 years working in fashion, sustainability and education.

“Fashion has been a big part of my life from a very young age. It still is, but for me to continue working in the field I've had to take a step back from the personal gratification derived from creating and wearing beautiful fashion, and start to see my impact. If a person truly sees and is moved by their actions in this world, sustainability in one's actions is inevitable. For me, it's been a blessing to still create fashion but not to feel guilty about its social and environmental impact.”

Anna Phillips

Anna has taken a step back to concentrate on other projects but without her help Restylist wouldn't have been able to launch. Ann has worked in international nonprofits and social enterprises for over 10 years, She has a passion for seeing dreams turned into reality through ethical business practices, and has a special interest in helping to grow women-led businesses.

“I’ve always loved second hand clothes - as a child my favourite toy was the dressing up box. As I began to buy my own clothes, I spent more and more time in charity shops. But as life got busier, it got harder to do that. We’ve been spoilt by online shopping, but the guilt I felt around buying new clothes got stronger. To create a platform that promotes style and sustainability feels like a win-win.”

Launch Pad

Before the pandemic Restylist provided a platform for up and coming creatives. We hope to continue this initiative again once we become more established.

Anais Koopmans

Anais had been with Restylist from the start. She was pursuing a degree in fashion, luxury and beauty photography at Spéos Paris Photographic Institute when we started Restylist and was responsible for many of the beautiful images seen on our old website. Click here to see more.

"My focus in fashion photography is body image. Body Awareness has been a big part of my photography. I want to represent the human body with all its natural curves and imperfections. I aim to create a moment with photographs not just a static image. Something that shows the connection between the clothes, model and the photographer. With these photographs I want to produce an art piece not only a product shot."

"It isn't enough looking for the quality in the products we buy,

we must ensure that there is quality in the lives of the people who make them"

Our Philosophy

Change begins within: to make any kind of difference, we have to look within ourselves and really question our own actions.

Connection is everything: by bringing together people, businesses, theories, platforms and ideas, we hope to stimulate conversation.

Working together, rather than against each other, can only make us stronger and richer in skills, experiences and inspiration.

Creativity is an essential element in every person, enriching our daily lives and bringing deep happiness.

Finally we believe that businesses should answer a need, not create one. What our interconnected world needs right now is an answer to the problems we already face.
